3cycle is Evolving!

After three incredible years serving the Kitchener-Waterloo community, we are thrilled to share that the 3cycle project is entering an exciting new chapter!

What’s changing?
3cycle will now become a global hub for tackling 3D-printed waste. We’re launching a comprehensive platform that includes:

  • A Slack group to connect and collaborate.
  • A knowledge base filled with tools, insights, and best practices.
  • Monthly community calls to share ideas and foster collaboration.

Our mission remains the same—to address the challenges of 3D-printed waste—but we’re shifting focus to empower organizations and communities worldwide with the resources they need.

To make this happen, we’ll be scaling down our local recycling efforts and investing more time into community-building activities.

Why Are We Making This Change?

We want to do more! From the very beginning, our mission has been to solve the 3D-printed waste problem in the most effective way possible. After reflecting on our journey, we realized there’s even greater potential to make an impact by building a connected, informed, and empowered global community.

Here’s why now is the right time for this shift:

  1. Global Demand: We’ve received outreach from individuals and organizations worldwide who want to learn from and build on what we’ve achieved with 3cycle.
  2. Evolving Technology: Recycling tools are becoming smaller, smarter, and more accessible. Economies of scale are no longer the barrier they once were, but the need for these solutions has grown exponentially.
  3. Our Community: The strength and support of the 3D printing community have always been our driving force. This transition allows us to amplify our impact by fostering collaboration on a global scale.

What’s Next?

We’ve already hit the ground running:

  • Slack Community: Our Slack group is live! Join here to connect with others passionate about recycling 3D-printed waste.
  • Knowledge Base: We’re actively building out a comprehensive repository of insights and resources.
  • Community Calls: Officially launching this spring, these monthly calls will provide opportunities to share ideas, discuss challenges, and collaborate on solutions.

You can stay updated on our progress through our website and Slack community.

A Note to Current Waste Contributors

To our incredible local supporters: we deeply appreciate everything you’ve done to make 3cycle what it is today. If you still have a 3cycle bin with waste, we’re happy to arrange a final collection. Please reach out to us by email, and we’ll coordinate the details.

Thank You!

The past three years have been an extraordinary journey, and we couldn’t have done it without you—our community. This new chapter is all about scaling our collective impact, and we’re so excited to have you alongside us.

Let’s tackle the 3D-printed waste problem together. See you on Slack!
